Gachiakuta Season 2 Finally Got News. It Still Doesn't Have a Release Date

Gachiakuta Season 2 got its first real update via a Crunchyroll-run 'Return to the Pit' reveal event, which debuted a first-look trailer with new footage of protagonist Rudo's story continuing. It's a confirmation the franchise's growing fanbase had been waiting on — just not the one piece of information most of them actually wanted.

That fanbase isn't small anymore, either: Gachiakuta walked away from the 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards with Best New Series, Best Character Design, and Best Background Art — a genuine breakout for a freshman season, not just internet hype talking itself up.

What the trailer and reveal actually locked in: Season 2 exists, Studio Bones is returning to animate it, and there's new footage of Rudo's journey to show for it. What it didn't lock in: an actual premiere date, episode count, or release window of any kind.

Worth being patient about this one specifically. Gachiakuta's whole appeal is its genuinely strange premise — people a classist society deems 'trash' get literally thrown into a junkyard dimension to survive — carried by animation that's noticeably more ambitious than a typical weekly shounen budget. For a show built on that kind of craft, 'we're taking our time' is a more reassuring signal than a rushed date would be.

For now, Gachiakuta joins the pile of confirmed-but-dateless sequels. Worth bookmarking. Not worth clearing a weekend for yet.
